New Millennium’s repertoire draws on the rich chamber orchestra literature of the Baroque and Classical eras, the 19th and 20th centuries, and the present day. The orchestra also ventures into outstanding scores from films and musical theater and arrangements of contemporary popular music.
Tuedays from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Transfiguration Episcopal Church, located at 3900 Alameda de las Pulgas in San Mateo.
Requirements: Two short pieces or orchestral excerpts (no more than 3 minutes each) of your choice, in contrasting mood and tempo, that will demonstrate your technique and musicianship. One short sight-reading excerpt of easy to medium-easy difficulty.
We are currently in need of:
- All strings, but especially (3) Violas (1) Contrabass
- (1) Principal Trumpet and (1) Tenor Trombone
- (2) Percussionists
- (2) Mallet players (Marimba and Vibraphone, just for one work)
NMCO’s core group of string, woodwind and brass players is augmented by additional musicians for works requiring larger forces or special instruments. Some of the key players are music teachers working in Peninsula schools; others are students and working professionals in a variety of fields who want more music in their lives.
